Tailor-Made Travel

Private & custom Iceland tours, designed around you.

Iceland feels like a continent that broke away from the world — geysers that erupt every few minutes, waterfalls so tall they disappear into mist, glaciers that calve icebergs into lagoons, and black sand beaches where the icebergs wash ashore and sparkle. Reykjavík is compact and culturally rich; the Ring Road connects everything else.

Every Black Deer Travel Iceland tour is private and fully custom. From the Golden Circle and Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon to a complete Ring Road circumnavigation or a winter Northern Lights chase, we build it around you — with private drivers on all the roads, expert routing through geothermal landscapes, and insider knowledge of which sites reward early or late visits. The best time to visit Iceland is May to September for the Ring Road and midnight sun, or November to March for the Northern Lights and fewer crowds. We arrange every site ticket, handle road condition updates, and pair your route with local guides who know the hidden waterfalls, the best geothermal pools, and where to find fresh seafood.

Good to Know

Iceland tours — your questions answered

What is the best time to visit Iceland?

May through September offers stable weather and long daylight — June and July are warmest but busiest; September is ideal with fewer crowds and golden light. November through February brings the Northern Lights but winter weather and some interior road closures.

How many days do you need for Iceland?

Eight days is minimum for the Ring Road briskly; ten days is better. Twelve to fourteen days is ideal — you can complete the Ring Road slowly, add Snæfellsnes, and absorb each region without rushing.

What is Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon?

Jökulsárlón is a lagoon where icebergs calved from Breiðamerkurjökull, an outlet of Vatnajökull (Iceland's largest glacier), drift towards the sea. Diamond Beach, just across the road, is where the ice washes up on black sand. It's the most photographed site in Iceland and worth every hour of the long drive.

How do you get around on an Iceland tour?

We provide a private driver and 4x4 vehicle for the entire Ring Road. Reykjavík has taxis and buses, but beyond the capital, a private car is essential. In summer roads are paved and passable; in winter, we confirm conditions and route accordingly.

Can you see the Northern Lights in Iceland?

Yes, from roughly September to early April, when the nights are dark enough. You need clear skies and some solar activity, so nobody can promise a sighting. We plan winter trips with several nights away from Reykjavík's lights and a guide who watches the aurora and cloud forecasts each evening.

Do I have to drive myself in Iceland?

No. Every Iceland trip we plan comes with a private driver. Weather on the island changes fast, and in winter wind, ice and road closures are common, so our drivers check the official road and safety updates every morning and adjust the day around them.
